Celebrity hair loss draws millions of searches in India, usually from people who are noticing their own hairline and want to know what famous men did about theirs. Many type “celebrities ka hair transplant” and land on clinic pages that study old photos and guess. This page does something narrower. It reports only what each person has said on the record, says plainly where we found nothing, and then explains what the evidence says about pattern hair loss and transplants for everyone else.
For causes, tests and treatment of every type of hair loss, see our complete guide to hair loss in India.
Celebrity hair loss: how we checked what each person said
A person’s health is private, and famous people are no exception. So we set three rules for this page.
- Their own words only. We quote an interview, a television appearance, a recorded remark or a post, and we link to where it was reported.
- No photo readings. Clinic blogs that compare old and new photos and name a technique or a number of grafts are guessing. We do not repeat them, and we do not repeat comments from doctors who have not said they treated the person.
- Silence means silence. Where we found no statement, we say so, with the date we last searched: November 2026.
We use no photos of anyone named here.
Cricketers: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya
Virat Kohli hair loss: what he said in 2016
In a 2016 interview with GQ India, Virat Kohli was asked whether he spends much time on his hair. He said he gets it cut regularly and uses some product, and added: “With the helmet, there’s always a fear that you’re going [to] lose all your hair a lot sooner than others, so I’d like to cherish it while it’s still there.”
That is a worry many cricketers share, not a description of hair loss. We found no interview or post in which he describes losing hair or having any treatment. Claims about a procedure come from photo comparisons and from people who have not said they treated him, so we leave them out.
Rohit Sharma hair loss: the stump-mic moment
In July 2023, after scoring a Test century against the West Indies in Dominica, Rohit Sharma kept his helmet on. The stump microphone picked up the West Indies wicketkeeper urging him to take it off. Rohit replied, “Nah, I’ve got hair problems.”
It was a light moment on the field, and it is the only time we found him referring to his own hair. He has not described a diagnosis or any treatment in public. The online trolling that followed shows how much stigma Indian men still face about thinning hair.
Hardik Pandya hair loss: a shaved head is not hair loss
In August 2026, Hardik Pandya was photographed with a fully shaved head at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala, where offering one’s hair is a long-standing devotional practice. India Today reported that he had not revealed the reason. We found no statement from him about hair loss as of November 2026.
A shaved head says nothing about whether someone is losing hair. Shaving also does not change how hair grows back: Mayo Clinic says shaving does not change hair’s thickness, colour or rate of growth.
Actors: Salman Khan and Prabhas
Salman Khan hair loss: what he has said on Bigg Boss
Salman Khan has addressed the subject on camera. In September 2026, on Bigg Boss, he responded to trolling about his shaved head. He said the look was for a film project and dismissed comments about a hair transplant. His words do not confirm or deny any procedure, and we do not guess.
Prabhas hair loss: no public statement found
We found no interview or post in which Prabhas talks about his own hair, as of November 2026. Fan theories about wigs and procedures circulate widely, and photos from film sets show whatever hair a role needs. None of that is evidence about his health, so there is nothing for us to report.
Elon Musk hair loss: a joke, not a statement
In September 2024, Elon Musk reshared a post showing his appearance alongside his rising net worth over the years and wrote: “What’s amazing is how net worth makes you hair grow.” Many readers took it as a hint. It is a joke, and it does not say what, if anything, he did. We found no interview or post in which he describes hair loss or a treatment.
The useful point for readers is the one the joke makes by accident: treatment for pattern hair loss can be expensive and usually is not covered by insurance, according to AAD. Money does not change the biology, though. The same rules about donor hair, timing and medicine apply to everyone.
What celebrity hair loss means for your own hair
Famous men losing hair is not surprising, because pattern hair loss is common. In a population study of 1,005 men aged 30 to 50 in Bengaluru, 58% had pattern hair loss. AAD says it is inherited, can begin as early as the teens, and continues without treatment.
- Photos mislead. Lighting, haircuts, styling products, hair fibres, wigs and camera angles all change how a hairline looks. You cannot tell from a picture whether someone had treatment.
- Treatment works best early. AAD says the earlier treatment starts, the more likely you are to see regrowth. Options for pattern loss are a scalp medicine, tablets for men that block a hormone’s effect on follicles, and procedures such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections and hair transplant.
- Covering up is a valid choice. AAD notes that wigs and concealers cannot slow hair loss but can boost self-esteem and work immediately. Shaving your head is also a choice, not a failure.
- Hair loss can hurt. If thinning hair is affecting your mood, sleep or confidence, that is worth raising with a doctor too.
Our guide to the stages of hair loss explains how doctors grade it, and reasons for hair fall covers the causes that are not inherited.
Hair transplant: what the procedure involves
Because transplants dominate celebrity hair gossip, here is what AAD says about them. A transplant moves healthy hairs from one part of the scalp to areas that are thinning.
| Question | What AAD says |
|---|---|
| Who can have one? | You need enough healthy hair to move and the ability to grow hair in the thinning area. Men in their 20s may be asked to wait and start a hair loss medicine first. |
| What happens on the day? | It usually takes 4 to 8 hours. Most people stay awake, with medicine that numbs the scalp. |
| When do results show? | Most people see results 6 to 9 months after surgery, some at 12 months. The transplanted hair falls out 2 to 8 weeks after surgery, and hair may look thinner by the third month. Both are normal. |
| Does it stop further hair loss? | No. Loss and thinning can continue in the hair that was not moved, so a dermatologist may recommend medicine to keep the result. |
| What result is realistic? | A full head of hair may be unrealistic; a fuller head of hair can be the goal. The outcome depends largely on the surgeon. |
A transplant is surgery. Ask who will examine you, who will do each step, and what their training is. A hairline copied from a film star’s photo may not suit your age, your donor hair or the way your hair loss will progress.
When to see a doctor
These are the main warning signs; the hub has the full list of hair-loss warning signs.

Frequently asked questions
Which Indian celebrities have spoken about their hair loss?
Of the names people search most, Salman Khan has addressed it most directly, answering trolling about his shaved head on Bigg Boss in 2026. Rohit Sharma referred to “hair problems” on the stump microphone in 2023, and Virat Kohli spoke of a fear of losing hair under the helmet in 2016. We found no statement about hair loss from Hardik Pandya or Prabhas as of November 2026.
Did Elon Musk have a hair transplant?
He has not said so. In September 2024 he joked on X that net worth makes hair grow, which many readers took as a hint, but a joke is not a statement about treatment. We found no interview or post in which he describes hair loss, medicine or a procedure. Clinic pages that say otherwise are reading photos, not reporting facts.
Does wearing a helmet cause hair loss?
We found no good evidence that helmets cause pattern hair loss, which is inherited. AAD’s list of hair-loss causes includes hairstyles that pull on the hair, but not helmets. Keep wearing a helmet for cricket, cycling or riding a two-wheeler. Wash sweat out of your hair as often as your scalp needs, and see a doctor if you notice a thinning patch.
Does shaving your head make hair grow back thicker?
No. Mayo Clinic says shaving does not change hair’s thickness, colour or rate of growth. Shaved hair grows back with a blunt tip, which can feel coarse and look darker for a while. A tonsure or a shaved look neither causes nor treats hair loss. If your hair is thinning, shaving it is a style choice, not a treatment.
Can I get the same hair result as a celebrity?
You cannot know what a celebrity did, so you cannot copy it. What you can get depends on your type of hair loss, how far it has progressed, how much healthy donor hair you have and when you start. AAD says treatment works best when started early, and that after a transplant a fuller head of hair, not a full one, is a realistic goal.
Is losing hair in your 20s normal?
It is common. AAD says pattern hair loss can begin as early as the teens, and in a Bengaluru study 58% of men aged 30 to 50 had it. Common does not mean you should ignore it: early thinning can also come from illness, low iron, thyroid problems or stress, and pattern loss responds best to early treatment. A doctor can tell which type you have.
