Indian diet and blood sugar coaching for diabetes
In type 2 diabetes the body cannot use insulin properly, so blood sugar stays high all the time. In India most plates are carb-heavy β rice, roti, aloo. That is why small practical changes, like balancing the plate, the order in which you eat and a daily walk, often make the biggest difference to your numbers.

Common symptoms
These are the signs people most often report on Disha. You will not necessarily have all of them β and some of them show up in other conditions too.
- Frequent thirst and urination
- Tiredness and sluggishness all day
- Losing weight without trying
- Blurred vision
- Slow-healing wounds or repeated infections
What to eat with diabetes
These are starting-point guidelines from Disha's Registered Dietitians β not a prescription. Your actual plan is built around your reports, your medicines, your routine and the food cooked at home.
- Fill half your plate with vegetables. Half the thali non-starchy sabzi (lauki, bhindi, palak, gobhi, tori), a quarter protein (dal, paneer, eggs, chicken, fish) and a quarter grain (roti or rice). This one rule alone fixes the whole plate.
- Change the order in which you eat. Salad or sabzi first, then dal and protein, and roti or rice right at the end. This simple sequence helps blunt the sugar spike after a meal β and you don't have to give anything up.
- Always pair rice with fibre. Never white rice on its own β have dal, curd, salad and a hearty sabzi with it. Measure the portion in a katori instead of filling the plate. If you like, try hand-pounded or brown rice.
- Eat the fruit, not the juice. Whole fruit with the skin on β jamun, guava, papaya, apple. Juice loses the fibre and leaves only the sugar behind. Have your fruit with a handful of nuts and the spike gets slower still.

Yes. The plan is built around your meals, medicines, and daily sugar pattern.
I am already on medicine. Will Disha still help?
Yes. Coaching works along with your current medicines.
Can I still eat rice, roti, and regular Indian food?
Yes. Portions, meal timing, and simple swaps β not a separate βdiabetic menu.β
Will I get a diet made for my sugar levels?
Yes, after the onboarding call, based on your meals, reports, and routine.
How does this help bring my sugar down?
By fixing meal timing, food quality, movement, and consistency β not only cutting sweets.
I also need to lose weight. Can both be handled together?
Yes. Sugar control and weight are planned together.
Do I still need to check my sugar at home?
Yes β home readings help Disha see whatβs working and adjust faster.
How soon will I notice better energy and sugar control?
Many users feel better energy within a few weeks, with clearer sugar improvement over about 3 months.
Can Disha help reverse my diabetes?
Reversal is not a one-time fix. Diabetes is managed every day β through food, timing, movement, and consistency. That is what Disha is built for. Get the daily management right, and sugar control starts changing.
I have already stopped eating sweets. Why is my sugar still high?
Sweets are only one part of it. Rice portions, meal gaps, and no walk after food can still spike sugar. Disha works on those daily habits so management actually holds.
