PCOS diet and lifestyle coaching β built around your Indian kitchen
PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is a hormonal condition in which the ovaries make more androgens than they should β which leads to irregular periods, weight gain, acne and unwanted hair. In most cases insulin resistance sits behind it, which is why your everyday food and movement are the biggest levers you have.

Common symptoms
These are the signs people most often report on Disha. You will not necessarily have all of them β and some of them show up in other conditions too.
- Irregular or missed periods
- Weight gain, especially around the belly
- Acne and oily skin
- Unwanted hair on the face or body
- Thinning hair and mood swings
What to eat with PCOS
These are starting-point guidelines from Disha's Registered Dietitians β not a prescription. Your actual plan is built around your reports, your medicines, your routine and the food cooked at home.
- Mix millets into your roti. Instead of refined atta alone, add bajra, jowar or ragi. There is more fibre, and the sugar spike after a meal stays slower β which helps directly with insulin resistance.
- Keep protein in every meal. Dal, rajma, chana, paneer, eggs or chicken. Don't make a breakfast out of just poha or paratha β add curd or eggs alongside. Protein cuts cravings and keeps you full for longer.
- One spoon of flaxseed daily. Roast it, grind it and stir it into curd, sabzi or your atta. You get omega-3 and fibre together, without any expensive supplement.
- Make curd and haldi part of the routine. A bowl of curd or chaas every day, and haldi in your dal and sabzi β both offer anti-inflammatory support. Skip sweetened flavoured yoghurt, it works against you.
